My starting point is to show reverence for all forms of life. I think that our distance from nature is related to our basic values which originate from the Christian worldview (in our part of the world), but also other patriarchal monotheisms such as Islam and Judaism. The monotheistic religions pushed out nature religions and religions with several gods and goddesses. The sacred relationship of the past with the world disappeared. Nature was deprived of its spirit.
It was the separation of spirit and matter. The world got masculine gods who lived in a world outside ours. The robbery of the goddesses and spirits in nature leads to an imbalance. It is not only important for the woman who was put under the man, and lost her equal status, her goddesses and role models, but it also led to a view of nature that has not served nature. The physical world was reduced to serving man, and it was to be God’s will that we make use of nature. We moved away from the circular perception of reality to a linear understanding with man as the ruler of the earth. Equality and the interaction between the various aspects of the living world disappeared in hierarchies. Some were better than others, some were less valuable. The interaction, respect, and dependence on each other in complex ecosystems was forgotten.
In the project “Life givers” and the reconstruction of the cult of life, I am currently working on the missing goddess aspect. She is the source of all creation, and she embodies the creative force that brings forth life. She is fertility, motherhood, and the nurturing aspect of existence.
